  • May 1st, 8th, and 15th 2025 (Thursdays) - MFC and Manasquan Recreation Introduction to Fishing Course:
    • MFC members Paul Shafer and Jack Pongracz teach this course in
      cooperation with the Manasquan Recreation Department.
    • The course covers the basics
      of salt water fishing for those with little or no experience.
    • Classes are held at the Manasquan Community Senior Center from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM.
    • The cost is $40 per person. Those interested can register at Manasquan Community Pass
      (https://www.manasquan-nj.gov/community-pass).

  • June 6th 2025 (Friday) - Speaker: Paul Shafer, topic: Techniques for Catching River Fluke
  • June 7th 2025 (Saturday) - Manasquan Fishing Club & Manasquan Recreation Youth Fishing Clinic:
    • MFC members Paul Shafer and Jack Pongracz teach this clinic for 5 – 11 year olds at Mac’s Pond from
      9:00 AM - 12 Noon.
    • The cost is $10 per child.
    • Those interested can register at Manasquan Community Pass (https://www.manasquan-nj.gov/community-pass).
    • MFC volunteers are needed, so if you can lend a hand, contact Jack Pongracz at email:

  • June 17th 2025 (Tuesday) MFC River Fluke Tournament:
    • This year’s River Fluke Tournament will be from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM, rain or shine.
    • Fishing is restricted to the Manasquan River, from boat or from shore.
    • Weigh-in and picnic will follow at the Manasquan Recreation Annex Building, Manasquan, at 6:00 PM.
    • Entry fee is $40/person which includes the fishing fee and picnic.
    • For anyone not fishing but who just wants to attend the picnic, the fee is $20/person.
    • The tournament is open to all Club members, their families and one non-family guest (over 18 yrs. old
  • July 11th 2025 (Friday) – Since the 1st Friday this July falls on July 4th , the meeting has been rescheduled to Friday, July 11 th , please adjust your calendar accordingly. Speaker: Doug Zemeckis, Ph.D. (Rutgers University), topic: TBD
  • July 17th (Thursday) MFC Ocean Fluke Tournament:
    • This year’s Ocean Fluke tournament will be from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, rain or shine.
    • Fishing by boat is restricted to the area from the northern edge of the Sea Girt Reef to the southern edge of the Axel
      Carlson Reef.
    • Shore-bound anglers can fish the Manasquan Inlet or ocean from the beach and jetties. Fishing on a morning “half-day” party boat trip is also eligible.
    • Weigh-in and picnic will follow at the Manasquan Recreation Annex Building, Manasquan, at
      4:00 PM.
    • Entry fee is $40/person which includes the fishing fee and picnic.
    • For anyone who just wants to attend the picnic, the fee is $20/person.
    • The tournament is open to
      all club members, their families, and one non-family guest (over 18 yrs. old).
  • August 1st 2025 (Friday) – Speaker: TBD
  • August (TBD) 2025 (TBD) - First Annual Crab Boil
    • This event is in the planning stages but will
      be a family oriented event and entail crabbing with traps or drop lines from boat or
      shore (Stockton Lake bulkhead). Eric Wasnesky has volunteered his home for the after
      crabbing meal location, thanks Eric. Stay tuned.
  • August TBD (TBD) - JCAA Heavy Hitters 3-Day Fluke Tournament: Details from the JCAA
    have not yet been released. Stay tuned.
  • August 2nd (Saturday) – Manasquan “Big Sea Day” Inlet Youth Fishing Contest:
    • This MFC sponsored youth fishing contest is held at the Manasquan Inlet from 8:00 AM to
      Noon, with setup starting at 7:00 AM. It’s always a lot of fun for both us and the
      contestants, which are age groups: 8 & under, 9 - 13, and 14 - 16 years old.
    • Prizes are awarded to the winners. Rain date will be Sunday, August 3rd .
    • MFC volunteers are  needed, so if you are interested, please contact Paul Shafer or Jack Pongracz.
  • September 5th 2025 (Friday) - Annual Fish Fry & Prize Raffle Fundraiser – Speaker: Paul Shafer, topic: MFC History
    • A delicious fried grouper dinner, catered by Shore Fresh Restaurant, will be
      served and we will hold a prize raffle fundraiser at this regular meeting. Guests are
      welcome. There is no charge for members and guests are $20/person.
  • September 11, 18, and 25 (Thursdays) – MFC/Manasquan Recreation Introduction to Fall Surf Fishing Course:
    • MFC members Paul Shafer and Jack Pongracz teach this course
      in cooperation with the Manasquan Recreation Department.
    • The course covers all aspects for Surf Fishing and the Fall Striper Run.
    • The cost is $40 per person. Those interested can register at Manasquan Community Pass (https://www.manasquan-
      nj.gov/community-pass).

  • October 11th 2025 (Saturday) - MFC/Manasquan Recreation Introduction to Fall Surf Fishing Course Class Outing:
    • This is the culmination of the MFC/Manasquan Recreation Introduction to Fall Surf Fishing Course (classroom classes September 11th , 18th , and 25th ).
    • Students will receive hands-on surf fishing experience at the Riddle Way Jetty in Manasquan.
    • MFC volunteers are needed to help out. Again, it’s fun. Please let Paul
      Shafer or Jack Pongracz know if you can lend a hand.

    • Please be aware when you are making your way to the meeting that
      Manasquan holds its Tree Lighting & Annual Candy Cane Hunt on this Friday from 6:00 PM –
      9:00 PM and they close down Main Street west to Broad Street during that time.
