MHS Clubs participating in
Trex Decking Recycling Contest

  • The MHS Environmental and Garden Clubs are participating in a plastics recycling program behind held by the composite decking company Trex.
  • MFC Trustee and MHS teacher Eric Wasnesky advises the club(s) that are spearheading this for MHS
  • When the clubs reach 1000 pounds of donated plastics the company will donate a composite bench for the MHS campus.
  • Multiple residents, community groups and businesses are taking advantage of this opportunity to recycle their otherwise thrown away plastics. Collections are usually on Saturday mornings, every few weeks in the BOE office parking lot just North of the high school.

Please note that this does not include what goes out to the curb on recycling day such as plastic bottles - This collection is for clean stretchy plastics like bread bags, paper towel roll packaging, bubble wrap, shipping envelopes, etc.  The stuff that normally ends up in the trash and sometimes the ocean.
